S.O.T.I.M. Son of the Iron Mic
A graphic novel takes on the elements of hip hop in a futuristic society...Beat Street meets Dune. Son of the Iron Mic is a post apocalyptic tale that represents everyone by using elements of a culture born in the 20th century. As a cautionary tale of how the future treats the past, Michael's coming of age represents the matriculation of hip hop as a culture against a climate of appropriation, an redirection of its core traditions and central narrative. Son of the Iron Mic and its subsequent web series, Tales of the Iron Mic chronicle how changes in the Diaspora can alter the future in dangerous ways.

Quinn McGowan When I started in hip hop there was an unspoken feeling that a war was raging for the very soul of the music. I wanted to create SOTIM as a cautionary tale about respecting the foundations of your culture. A very necessary backbone in dire times. |
